Terrorism

I want to start off by saying what a great job the British and American intelligence services did in foiling the plot to destroy the planes flying from the UK to the US. This is a real victory for the forces of freedom and I think a major defeat for those crazy terrorist. I know the preppy posts usually talk about sailing of the best way to mix your favorite cocktail. However, we are also educated people who must talk about the issues of the day.

I think the day we let our guard down we are domed. I was there on September 11th, 2001 when the planes smashed into the twin towers. I had glass and ash fall on my head. I saw too many things I have never told people who were not there that day. I went to funerals for good men with empty coffins because their bodies were never found. I know there are many people who feel it's been five years and we should forget about the attacks on 9-11-01. This would be a mistake, as we learned yesterday our enemy hates us because we are free; because women have rights; because we vote for our leaders; because we have freedom of religion...because we are not them...

I now feel safer than ever to fly; although it will be a major problem with lines and limits on what you can bring on a flight.
