Preppy Towns

So I was surfing around and came upon Lilly and Lemons Blog. Kiki was talking about how stupid hot it has been and her desire to move to the northeast. So, of course I had a though about helping her and every other preppy out there....What about a list of the Preppiest Towns in the Northeast; or even in the whole country!

I actually have been thinking about this for a couple days, but Kiki's posting made me decide to solicit some outside ideas too....SO, please send a comment on what YOU consider a preppy town. I'll compile a list of the "viewers" choices and of the preppy guy's official list ...

I'll place the first vote for Newport. My personal favorite.

Anyone think of someplaces near Washington, DC?

How about a category for "greatest potential to be preppy?" I would nominate Seattle: sailing, golf, tennis, beautiful old neighborhoods, and the fastest growing sport is lacrosse.

Seatle is great, except for all that grunge

the preppy handbook has a great list...

Great places around DC are {or were when I lived there} Annapolis, MD ~ my hometown, Middleburg and Leesburg, VA.

Bar Harbor
Hamptons
Ridgewood
Kennebunkport
Nantucket
Cape Cod
Wellesley, etc.
Westchester
Martha's Vineyard

I wouldn't really qualify D.C. areas as the NE.

If we're going outside of the NE, I have to nominate Harbor Springs, MI - just gorgeous!

Harbor Springs or Charleviox or Grand Traverse in MI...great preppy places you wouldn't suspect!

Near DC:
- Annapolis (great sailing and lacrosse)
- Middleburg (hunt country)
- Charlottesville (deeper hunt country)

New England, near Boston:
- Near Boston: Wellesley, Weston, Sherborn, Duxbury, Manchester-by-the-Sea
- Coastal: Newport/Jamestown (RI), Nantucket, some Cape towns better than others, Block (not by the ferry)

darien and new canann in ct, but also some towns in new jersey- ridgewood, summit, rumson, etc. also, i was just in bar harbor, i'd say northeast harbor is preppier. bar harbor was more bohemian.

I'll add Essex Fells, NJ.
